2026 Term 4 Week 1 16 Oct 2026
Upcoming Events
From the Principal
Dear Lindisfarne Parents and Guardians,
As we enter Term 4, I warmly welcome back all our students, staff, and families. I hope the recent holiday break provided your family with an opportunity for rest and renewal, or at least a change of routine. We are ready for a strong term of learning and achievement at Lindisfarne.
This week, our thoughts and prayers are very much with our Year 12 students, the Class of 2026, as they begin their Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations. This period represents the culmination of many years of dedication, effort, and commitment throughout their school journey. Having watched this cohort develop into impressive, thoughtful, and capable young people, I know they are well prepared for their HSC exams and for life beyond School. On behalf of the entire Lindisfarne community, we wish each student every success over the coming weeks, months and years. Approach each examination with confidence, focus, and belief in your preparation; we are immensely proud of you.
On Wednesday morning, it was a pleasure to host our Principal's Tour at the Mahers Lane Campus. Walking through our learning spaces with prospective parents is always rewarding. It is deeply encouraging to see so many families seeking a Lindisfarne education for their children, and seeing our campus through visitors' eyes is a timely reminder of the strength of our educational offering at Lindisfarne.
Wednesday evening marked a significant moment for our school as members of our School Executive, staff, and student choir gathered at our founding Parish, St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, Tweed Heads, for the commissioning of the Reverend Stephanie Patching. The service was warm and uplifting, and our choir performed exceptionally well, adding a touch of grace to the occasion. We look forward to strengthening our connection with Reverend Stephanie and the parish of St Cuthbert’s as we continue to walk together in faith and service.
Looking ahead to the weekend, I am very much looking forward to attending the Blessing of the Boats ceremony this Saturday at the Murwillumbah Rowing Club facilities. We hope this becomes a cherished tradition in our school's life and an important milestone for our rowing program. Following our squad's outstanding achievements at the Queensland Schools' Rowing Championships at the end of last term, it will be wonderful to gather with our rowers, families, and coaches to bless and name our fleet and celebrate Lindisfarne rowing's success throughout the year.
As we begin this final term of the 2026 Academic year, we have much to look forward to across both our Sunshine Avenue and Mahers Lane campuses. My sincere thanks to our staff for their thorough preparation in ensuring a smooth start to the term, and to our parents and guardians for your ongoing partnership and support of our school.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warm regards,

Dear Members of the Lindisfarne School Community,
The Power of Prayer
As we commence the final term of 2026, let us entrust to God all our endeavours for the holistic education and wellbeing of our students and our whole School community.
As Edith Stein wisely said, “Prayer is the greatest achievement of which the human person is capable.” In prayer we commune with God, “in whom we live and move and have our existence” (cf. Acts 17:28), and this relation and intimacy with God sets our hearts at rest, and banishes our fears. A consistent and daily prayer life is the antidote to the worry, anxiety, rush and feverish activity that are symptomatic of the chaotic and frenetic pace of contemporary life.
Take a deep breath, be silent and reflect on this prayer by St Teresa of Avila, and allow it to give you much needed perspective on life and things:
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing;
God only is changeless.
Patience gains all things.
Who has God wants nothing.
God alone suffices. Amen.
Enfolding Our HSC Students in God’s Love and Grace
Please join us to pray for our Year 12 students during their HSC exams and end of year activities. Let us pray that our students may be granted God’s wisdom, health, inner strength, hope, and retentive memory. You might want to use this prayer:
Gracious and loving God,
We thank you for your constant care and unfailing love.
Watch over our HSC students, their teachers, and their families during this season of exams.
We commend them to your tender keeping -
especially those we now name before you… (pause or name individuals)
Grant them good health, wisdom, understanding, and a calm spirit.
Bless them with clarity of mind and a steady memory.
May they do their best and sense the presence of your Holy Spirit guiding and strengthening them.
Give them peace of mind and confidence in your love,
and may their efforts be crowned with success.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Transformative Education
It was Abraham Lincoln who said, “when I do good, I feel good.” In other words, showing acts of kindness and doing good deeds has a positive impact, not only on the recipients of our kindness and generosity, but also on the mental health and wellbeing of the givers. Of course, we don’t do good deeds just so we might feel good, but the feeling of goodness is a byproduct of doing them.
At Lindisfarne School, we always encourage our students to use their privilege for the good of others, and for the betterment of the Australian society and the world at large. Our Christian faith teaches us that it is Christ Himself whom we serve in those who are marginalised and whom our society encourages us not to see (cf. Matthew 25:40).
It gives great joy to report that our stage 3 students worked with the chaplains to raise enough money to buy seven fairly used laptops for Year 11 students at St Paul’s Technical School Owerre-Umudioka. This is the first set of laptops the school has owned, and it’ll assist their students with ICT learning in this computer and digital age. If you’d like to support us in giving more laptops to the school and helping them set up collar batteries to power them, please let me know.

I wish you all God’s richest blessings in every way. Please be assured of my prayers for all of you, and don’t forget to pray for me and mine.
With every blessing and good wishes,
Reverend Constantine

Out of This World Learning: Kindergarten Joins Mission Sprouts!
An exciting learning adventure awaits our Kindergarten students this term! Through Mission Sprouts, a hands-on STEM initiative supported by the Australian Space Agency and Australian astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg, our young scientists will explore the connection between space science and the natural world.
A special thank you to Hugo Carroll in Kindergarten Turtles and his family for sharing this exciting opportunity with me and ‘planting the seed’ for our Junior School’s involvement in Mission Sprouts. This suggestion has sparked a wonderful new learning adventure for our students!
Once our special seed kits arrive, students will germinate and care for seeds that have travelled aboard the International Space Station. They will compare their growth with seeds that have remained on Earth, observing changes, asking questions and making discoveries along the way.
This unique project offers a wonderful opportunity to nurture curiosity and bring science to life in our classrooms. We look forward to sharing our students’ discoveries as the project grows!

A particularly warm welcome to the new students and families joining our Middle School community this term. We hope you are already beginning to feel at home at Lindisfarne.
It has been lovely to see students back at school, reconnecting with friends and teachers and returning to their learning. Term 4 is always an important time in the Middle School calendar. Alongside the learning and activities still to come, there is a strong focus on finishing the year well and preparing students for the next stage of their schooling.
For our Year 6 and Year 8 students in particular, the weeks ahead mark important transitions. We look forward to supporting them as they prepare for Year 7 and Senior School respectively, while ensuring they make the most of their remaining time in their current year groups.

Senior School
From the Head of Senior School
Welcome to Term 4! We've had an energetic start to our final term of 2026. In a world where media headlines constantly debate the changing nature of youth culture, digital technology, and modern education, stepping onto our school grounds offers a grounding reminder of what matters. Whilst the news cycle endlessly analyses the challenges facing young people today, what we see every day on campus is far more inspiring: resilience, curiosity, and a deep desire to support one another. Amidst all the modern noise, the core of what helps young people thrive remains unchanged - authentic human connection, steady effort, and a community that believes in them.
We see that quiet dedication in action as our Year 12 students and Year 11 Accelerants began their HSC examinations on Tuesday. These next few weeks represent the culmination of our students' hard work and perseverance. Please keep them all close in your thoughts during this crucial period and, as The Reverend Constantine so warmly puts it, keep "sending positive vibes" their way as they tackle each paper.
It has also been a milestone week for our incoming Year 12s, the Class of 2027, following the announcement of our prefect and captaincy positions. We are excited to celebrate them all at our Tuesday Service, where we will formally induct not just our badged leaders, but our entire senior cohort. We hold high expectations for these students and look forward to seeing them launch their final school journey with confidence. Any parents who would like to join us for the service are warmly encouraged to attend. Please just let us know you are coming by indicating your attendance via this link.
To help set our new Year 12s up for a balanced and grounded year ahead, we are delighted to have Dr Michael Carr-Gregg speaking with them this Wednesday for a special workshop titled "Surviving and Thriving in Year 12". To support you at home, the School is pleased to gift every Year 12 family a copy of his book titled Surviving Year 12.
It will certainly be a full and busy term, but we genuinely look forward to walking alongside all our students as they finish the year strong and continue to represent themselves and our school with pride.

India Trip
Our recent cultural immersion tour to India was an extraordinary experience we'll remember for years to come. Our students were exceptional ambassadors for our school community, demonstrating maturity, curiosity, and respect throughout the entire journey and making us immensely proud at every step.

The adventure began in the north of India, where students explored the rich history and contrast of Old and New Delhi. In Agra, the group visited the grand Agra Fort before standing before the world-famous Taj Mahal. Although rain greeted us in Agra, it did nothing to dampen spirits, and the majestic Taj Mahal proved to be a breathtaking sight in any weather.
Travelling south to Kottayam in the tropical state of Kerala, we settled into the Kallukunnu Midas Guest House, which served as our home base. This was a central highlight of the trip: spending the week immersed in school life at Pallikoodam. Our students joined their classrooms, participated in lessons and formed deep, lasting friendships with the students. Students tried their hands at traditional tie-dyeing and a cooking class, gaining a hands-on appreciation for Indian craft and cuisine. Mr Dunn, along with our students, presented the school with rugby balls and spent time teaching the local students the fundamentals of touch football. The group also enjoyed a memorable day relaxing aboard a traditional houseboat, taking in the tranquil backwaters of Kerala.
Perhaps the most poignant part of the journey was our visit to the Gilgal Orphanage and Nursing Home. Our group attended a special service held in our honour, after which our students provided and served a delicious lunch to the residents. While confronting at times, this eye-opening experience was invaluable for our students, giving them a profound perspective on community, compassion, and global citizenship. Importantly, students had the rewarding opportunity to see the real-world impact of their prior fundraising efforts: inspecting the facility's under-construction building. The funds provided by our school community's generosity will be used to furnish one of the rooms.
Our students returned home with expanded worldviews, rich memories, and lifelong friendships. Thank you to Mr Steve Dunn, Mr Sudeep Mammen, our students and their families, who supported this incredible tour! It was a privilege to be on this trip and share the experience with them.

Global Learning at Lindisfarne
Global learning encourages curiosity, compassion and cultural understanding. This year, students have explored the world through Textiles and Culinary tours to Italy, a Rugby Tour to Fiji, service learning in the Philippines and India, and the Germinate Records project in Japan, the USA, Canada and New Zealand. These experiences broaden perspectives, build confidence and create meaningful connections across cultures.
Our Global Community
Throughout the year, Lindisfarne welcomes study tours from Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam and India, providing valuable opportunities for students to share experiences, build friendships and learn about different cultures.
Our school community continues to grow, with 15 long term international students undertaking their secondary education at Lindisfarne, alongside three short term students joining us for a semester. These students enrich our classrooms and wider school community, reminding us that global learning begins with the connections we make here at home.
Round Square: Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
As a proud member of Round Square, Lindisfarne embraces the IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service.
This year there have been some remarkable Round Square experiences, including conferences in Ballarat and Sydney, where students connected with peers from across Australia and beyond. A particular highlight was the extraordinary opportunity for students to travel to Tanzania and climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. This challenging expedition called for resilience, teamwork and determination, providing an experience that will stay with participants for years to come.
Next year promises another exciting range of opportunities, with Lindisfarne anticipating student participation in a Model United Nations forum in Bogotá, Colombia; an adventure week in Dorset, England; an Upper Primary Conference hosted by MLC in Sydney; the Ancient Wisdom to Smart Cities conference in Hangzhou and Shanghai, China; and RSIC 2027.
These experiences will challenge students, broaden their perspectives and encourage lasting friendships. Further information about each opportunity, including how students can become involved, will be shared with families in the coming weeks.
Learning Locally, Thinking Globally
Global learning at Lindisfarne is about much more than travel. Whether welcoming visitors from overseas, taking part in Round Square activities or experiencing life in another school community, our students are developing the understanding, empathy and confidence to make a positive contribution to an increasingly connected world.

Representing our school with immense pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship, all five squads delivered courageous performances against some of the finest touch football talent in the state.
Our teams pushed hard through a rigorous tournament schedule, producing commendable results across all divisions:

Basketball South Coast Challenge, Wollongong
Over the term break long weekend, our U16 Boys basketball team headed south to compete in the South Coast Challenge at the renowned Illawarra Snakepit. Facing off against strong Sydney based competition, the boys put on a fantastic display of skill, toughness, and heart throughout the tournament.
Going into the tournament extremely undersized, every game was a battle. While narrowly missing out on a semi-final spot, the boys navigated a series of high-intensity 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point thrillers. Matching up against physical, highly skilled athletes, they gained invaluable experience navigating close-game scenarios; an experience that is always tough to simulate otherwise.
Equally important was the progress made off the court. The multi-day tournament structure gave the team a taste of high-level sports preparation, focusing on key elements like tournament endurance, proper nutrition, and active recovery. Above all, the time spent together strengthened team culture and built strong camaraderie across the squad.
We are extremely proud of the boys' efforts, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the weekend. Opportunities like these are vital for player growth, and we look forward to providing similar development experiences in the future!

Gold Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition
In the recent holiday break, our intrepid Gold Duke of Edinburgh group embarked on their Adventurous Journey to the NSW Blue Mountains. Embracing public transport up the mountain, the first challenge for the group was to purchase enough food to sustain them for 4 days. After setting up camp at Blackheath Glen Tourist Park, we made it to the famous Govett’s Leap Lookout for sunset, locating the elusive Duke of Ed plaque. From here, the temperature plummeted significantly, and we awoke to thick fog, mist and temperatures in the single digits. This didn’t hamper our plans for the hike, traversing the Grand Canyon Track, Evans Lookout, the Clifftop Track, and Popes Glen - approximately 17km in total. On the following day, we were picked up by Eagle Rock Adventures who introduced the group to abseiling at Narrow Neck, where each student progressed from a 5m, 15m to 30m descent. From here we moved on to Empress Falls, completing an exhilarating canyoning experience.
After experiencing Katoomba Falls and Orphan Rock by night, our final day involved traversing the cliff line to The Three Sisters, before boarding one of the new Mariyung trains back to Sydney. The students developed skills in camp craft, navigation and team work, overcoming challenges and decisions in their small teams. They are commended for embodying the true Lindisfarne spirit and showing grace and compassion to everyone they met on the trail and in their groups. We now look forward to the Qualifying Journey to Tasmania later this year.

Launching the Lindisfarne Business Directory: Support Local, Stay Connected
We are proud to present the Lindisfarne Business Directory, a key initiative of the Lindisfarne Business Network designed to connect local leaders, foster collaboration and support our regional economy.
Our school thrives on the strength of its surrounding network and this new platform connects our families, local businesses and regional services. Created to benefit everyone, the Lindisfarne Business Directory provides a curated resource for our families, staff, alumni and members of the surrounding community to intentionally "shop local" and support the businesses that champion our school. Whether you are looking for trusted trade services, professional consulting, healthcare providers, or local retail, the directory makes finding community businesses easier than ever.
For business owners, it offers a highly visible platform to showcase your products and services directly to thousands of engaged families across the southern Gold Coast, Tweed Coast and northern New South Wales region. We invite members of our school community to explore the Business Directory, make it your first stop when looking for local services and intentionally get behind the businesses that generously support our school.
You can explore the digital directory anytime via this link, and a printed copy will be sent home with each Lindisfarne family early in Term 4.
We are already planning for the 2027/2028 Lindisfarne Business Directory. If you are interested in featuring your business, we invite you to complete our Expression of Interest (EOI) form here to learn more and join our growing directory.
Thank you for supporting the school and local region as we work together in continuing to build a strong, interconnected Lindisfarne community.
